Rookie Stars

Cooperstown is usually the place where all-stars finish their careers. But for 21 men and women of the 2009 Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program, the start of a new chapter in their professional lives will begin at the Hall of Fame.

6-1-09-Wade_Intern.jpgThe National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum welcomed 21 college interns from across the country Monday. The annual 10-week program places students in Museum departments ranging from public relations and photo archives to education and research. The students represent 20 schools from 14 states and were chosen from a pool that exceeded 500 applicants.

Interns work 40 hours a week, and attend career seminars and participate in demonstrations of the Museum’s collection known as Artifact Spotlights — in addition to work in their respective departments.

Now in its ninth year, the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program has produced five graduates who are currently part of the Hall of Fame’s full-time staff.
